Sheffield United have struck an agreement with Leicester City to sign Tom Cannon for £10m. Now, it is only a case of personal terms and medical.

Leicester City made the call which many fans were hoping for by recalling Tom Cannon from his loan spell at Stoke City. The Foxes striker has been in fine form in the Championship, so recalling him was a no-brainer.

However, it was never within Leicester's plan to reintroduce Tom Cannon into the starting lineup. Well, he was never really in the starting lineup but you catch my drift.

Instead, Leicester recalled Tom Cannon with one intention; to cash in. Leicester will take any form of cash injection they can get, so selling Cannon is a decision the Leicester higher-ups would make again and again.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Tom Cannon may have found his next club. This is because a £10m fee has been agreed between Sheffield United and Leicester City.

The only two components remaining are for Sheffield United to agree personal terms with Cannon and for the player to complete a medical (which is booked in for today).

Sky Sports said: "Sheffield United have agreed a £10m deal with Leicester to sign Tom Cannon. Personal terms are now under discussion but not yet agreed. However, a medical has been scheduled for Tuesday."

So, the transfer is in motion and barring any big obstacle, Tom Cannon will return to the Championship in the coming days. He will be eager to continue his fine form in the second tier of English football.

As it stands, Sheffield United are the team to watch. While they might have been out of form in very recent history, their overall season has been terrific. Even considering the points deduction, the Blades are second in the table, only one point behind Leeds United.

Therefore, the Foxes and the Blades might switch leagues come the end of the season. After all, Leicester are underperforming in the Premier League and Sheffield United are over-performing in the Championship.

So far this season, Tom Cannon has scored nine goals. He will be keeping an eye on that top goal-scorer title, with Borja Sainz currently leading the race (15). Playing for Sheffield United might give the striker the pedestal he needs to chase that top scorer badge.
