Ahead of Friday evening's showdown, Kieffer Moore has provided further context to his move to Sheffield United after snubbing Championship rivals Hull City at the eleventh hour.

Moore and his new side will travel up and across Yorkshire to the MKM Stadium to face the Tigers, where three points will be the target following a reasonably-strong start to the 2024/25 Championship campaign.

Widely tipped among the promotion favourites, United are one of just five sides to remain unbeaten in the second-tier after four games, two of which have resulted in victory.

Chris Wilder attracted a clutch of impressive acquisitions to Bramall Lane in a bid to strengthen his team's promotion credentials, with the likes of Harrison Burrows, Callum O'Hare, Michael Cooper and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi all joining in the summer.

Of course, though, Moore represents another exciting addition to Wilder's new-look squad and will likely lead the line against the team he snubbed in order to complete a move to the Blades instead.

As per HullLive, the Wales international was poised to sign on with the Tigers from Bournemouth after completing a medical, with a flight being arranged for him to join Tim Walter's squad at their pre-season training base in Türkiye.

However, the striker performed a shock U-turn by electing to join United on a three-year contract, a decision which is believed to be based around the preference of his wife's location, to remain in South Yorkshire.

Moore enjoyed previous spells with neighboring sides in Barnsley and Rotherham United before certifying his status as a leading marksman in the Championship with Cardiff City and on loan at Ipswich Town last season.

Moore provided additional context to his move to the Steel City and the club's promotion ambitions for the campaign in an interview with Sky Sports.

"You have to take everything into consideration," Moore said. "The style of play, the management, stuff like that.

"Maybe in the earlier parts of my career it didn't matter as much to me, but as I've progressed those are the things I really look for. You want to go into a team where they can bring the best out of you, and you can help the team.

"But you also need to be adaptable. Things can change quickly, and you can't just be a one-trick pony."

When quizzed on his side's promotion designs, Moore offered a convincing verdict but believes that the season will also be a process due to the influx of new players, meaning they will need to take it "game-by-game".

"Definitely, in my eyes I can't see why not [on getting promoted]," the 32-year-old added.

"We're building a really good squad here, we've got good management and staff but ultimately, as cliché as it sounds, we need to take it game-by-game.

"We're a new side, lots of new faces, a new playing style and it's going to take time to gel.

"So we need to just keep being at it, get as many points as we can and see where we end up near the end of the season.

Kieffer Moore should make a strong Sheffield United impact at Hull City's expense

Moore is right up there among the most seasoned goalscorers the second-tier has to offer.

He offers an imperious physical presence and frame which enables him to dominate opposing defenders, win flick-ons, draw fouls to slow the game down and provide a real threat from set pieces.

Perhaps no striker in the league can match Moore when it comes to his aerial threat, which will offer a new dimension to Wilder's attack this season.

He has scored just once from their opening encounters to date but that outlay will likely increase in the coming weeks and months. As Moore himself makes reference to, the side is gelling and adapting, though the service from creative outlets such as Burrows and O'Hare should pay dividends as the season goes on.

With that in mind, it is undoubtedly a blow for Hull to have missed out on his services so narrowly and United will be hoping to inflict that feeling even further this weekend.

There are notable question marks surrounding their decision to hand him a three-year deal, which will see him remain at the club until the age of 35, and it may not represent the shrewdest long-term investment.

However, in the here and now, Moore should promise to have a real impact on proceedings for his new club and Hull may just wish circumstances had been different, allowing them to complete the signing in the first place.
