Serie A | Udinese 1-1 Verona: Set play routines decisive

Udinese and Hellas Verona shared the spoils after two goals from corner kick routines, while the woodwork was also rattled three times.

Goalkeeper Maduka Okeye is suspended until October 18 following a betting investigation, while Hellas missed injured Tomas Suslov, Yellu Santiago and Nicolas Valentini. The visitors had a rough start to the campaign, needing penalties to eliminate Cerignola in the Coppa Italia last week.

Jordan Zemura really should’ve put Udinese ahead on 22 minutes, but ballooned over the bar from the Keinan Davis pull-back.

Giovane tested Razvan Sava from the edge of the area and Keinan Davis fired over from 12 yards.

After the restart, Giovane stung Sava’s gloves with a scorcher from outside the box, then moments later smashed another powerful strike onto the crossbar.

Just as Hellas were pouring forward, they were caught out by a Sandi Lovric corner kick, which was nodded in from close range by Thomas Kristensen to put Udinese in front.

Udinese also rattled the frame of the goal with an Oier Zarraga missile from distance, but Verona drew level from a corner kick routine of their own.

It was flicked on at the near post by Giovane for Suat Serdar to tap in off the outside of the boot from close range.

The woodwork was thumped for the third time in the game on 83 minutes by Udinese substitute Hassane Kamara with a rising finish from 10 yards after cutting inside from the left.
