Awaiting Rasmus Hojlund, Napoli start Lorenzo Lucca with Scott McTominay and Kevin De Bruyne as they host impressive Cagliari.

The reigning Champions of Italy started the season well with a comfortable 2-0 victory away to Sassuolo, but are still getting to grips with losing Romelu Lukaku for three to four months with a thigh injury.

Miguel Gutierrez is also absent following ankle surgery, so with Hojlund on his way from Manchester United this weekend, Lucca remains the only real alternative upfront.

He gets support from McTominay and De Bruyne in a 4-1-4-1 formation, while Alessandro Buongiorno is still not 100 per cent fit.

Summer signings like Sam Beukema and Noa Lang are being welcomed in gradually.

Cagliari had a decent opener, clawing back Fiorentina for a 1-1 draw deep into stoppages.

Marco Palestra is thrown straight into the starting XI for his debut after moving from Atalanta.

Veteran ex-Napoli striker Leonardo Pavoletti is out with a knee injury, but Michael Folorunsho, Elia Caprile, Gianluca Gaetano and Sebastiano Luperto return to face their old club.

It’s a special game for Sebastiano Esposito too, as his prolific football family hails from near Naples.
