Napoli were held to a third consecutive stalemate as Lazio fought back for a 2-2 thriller, including Gustav Isaksen’s scorcher and a bizarre own goal.
These sides met twice in a few days back in December, Lazio winning 3-1 in the Coppa Italia and then 1-0 away in Serie A. The Partenopei lost David Neres, Leonardo Spinazzola and Mathias Olivera, so moved to a 3-5-2 formation with Giacomo Raspadori upfront, but Alessandro Buongiorno made his first appearance of 2025 after a back injury. The hosts missed Elseid Hysaj, Patric and Matias Vecino, with Boulaye Dia not fully fit either.
Alex Meret pushed a Nuno Tavares free kick round the near post in the opening minutes and it was only a warning, as Lazio took the lead soon after.
Amir Rrahmani’s headed clearance on the long Ivan Provedel ball was weak, but Gustav Isaksen still had plenty to do and unleashed a rocket from 30 yards out into the roof of the net. Remarkably, he hadn’t scored in Serie A since the late winner away to Napoli in December.
It didn’t last long, as Scott McTominay intercepted a poor Provedel pass out from the back, so Raspadori completed a rapid give and go with Romelu Lukaku and drilled the equaliser through the goalkeeper’s legs.

There was more bad news for Lazio, as Taty Castellanos limped off with a muscular issue and made way for Tijjani Noslin.
After a strong Pedro run forward, Nicolò Rovella’s strike from the edge of the area was fingertipped over the bar, while Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa stopped Isaksen nodding in a Nuno Tavares cross.
After the restart, Lukaku stung Provedel’s gloves on a Raspadori assist, but Lazio wasted a golden opportunity when Nuno Tavares intelligently pulled back for the unmarked Isaksen to bend the finish wide from 12 yards.
Napoli turned the game around completely with a chaotic move. Substitute Matteo Politano made an immediate impact, breaking down the right and combining with Anguissa and Raspadori to pull back for Raspadori’s angled drive, which took a double deflection off Gila and Adam Marusic to ricochet into the net.
Lazio thought they had equalised moments later with a truly spectacular Mattia Zaccagni bicycle-kick, but he was offside on the Pedro knockdown.
They did manage to get it back on level terms with substitute Dia, who spread the play for Zaccagni and was ready to meet the return pass, steering a precise snooker shot into the far bottom corner with the inside of the left boot.
It remained wide open with chances at both ends in added time, so the draw was a fair result. It means Inter have the opportunity now to leapfrog Napoli and take the leadership.
