Second Serie A club looking at summer move for player that Barcelona are desperate to sell | OneFootball

Barcelona are aiming to close a number of sales over the summer, as club bosses aim to raise funds that would be spent on new signings, one of which could be Nico Williams. Equally as important will be reducing the first team wage bill, and currently, Clement Lenglet is a very high earner, despite not being counted on.

Lenglet has had no future at Barcelona for the last couple of years, but moving him on permanently has proven to be an impossible task. He’s had loan spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, and it looks certain that he will depart on a temporary basis for the third successive season.

Saudi Arabian clubs want to sign Lenglet, but he’s only wants to remain in Europe. A move to Italy could be on the cards, with Sport reporting that Bologna have joined Napoli in the race to sign the French defender.

Barcelona would certainly welcome any departure for Lenglet, but the problem is that interested clubs are unlikely to pay a significant portion of his salary, due to how high his wages are. It’ll be a very difficult task for sporting director Deco and his team to shift him on.
