Pep Guardiola believes Savinho has all the attributes to become an extraordinary player for Manchester City.
The star winger joined us from our sister club, Troyes, at the start of the 2024/25 campaign after impressing for another CFG team, Girona, the previous campaign as the Spanish club qualified for the Champions League.
The 21-year-old showed flashes of brilliance throughout his first season with the Blues, making 45 appearances, scoring two goals as well as clocking up 12 assists.
He showed his class in the 5-2 FIFA Club World Cup Group G deciding victory over Juventus here in the United States, blasting home our final goal in the top triumph.
The boss has high hopes for the Brazilian baller ahead of the upcoming term.
“Savinho made an incredible season at Girona,” said Guardiola.
“He was their best player and brought that team to play in the Champions League.
“Last season he started well and then played a little less because of my reasons but he is a player with incredible potential.
“We cannot forget he is so young. He needs to make more decisive actions in the final third.
“The moment he makes this step and says he wants to be the player that is decisive, he will be an extraordinary player.”
It's not only Savinho who Guardiola hopes will make a step-up next season.
The boss wants the whole squad to rediscover the form that has earned City six of the last eight Premier League titles.
“The most important thing is to recover and to find ourselves and what we were,” he continued.
“This is the most important thing in this tournament.
“The way we play and train, they can feel that this is what we were and this is our path to be competitive like we have been in eight of the last nine years.”
To rekindle the style and swagger that saw us win the Treble and Four-in-a-Row would undoubtedly cement our position as one of the favourites to lift this new edition of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Standing in our way in the next round, as we look to go far, is Al-Hilal and Guardiola is well aware that we’re now in the business end of the tournament.
“The time is here,” the boss added.
“We made a good group stage. The first two games not playing much well, the last one much better.
“Now there are no second chances. If we don’t continue here, we go back home.”
