A recent report from SPORT has revealed that Saudi Arabia is making an aggressive push to secure the signing of Real Madrid’s star forward, Vinicius Jr.

In fact, the offer on the table is staggering, with Saudi authorities assuring the Brazilian that he would become not only the highest-paid footballer but the highest-paid athlete in the world if he agrees to move to the Saudi Pro League.

Saudi officials are methodically advancing their plan, taking calculated steps to convince Vinicius of the move. The first objective is to persuade the player himself, making him see the financial and sporting benefits of the switch.

However, the real challenge lies ahead—getting Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to entertain the idea of a transfer. If successful, it could result in the most expensive football transfer in history.

There has been contact

In the last few hours, reports have emerged of a crucial meeting in Prague between Vinicius’ representatives and a high-ranking Saudi delegation.

The purpose of the meeting was to outline key contract details and, more importantly, assess the Brazilian’s willingness to make a career-defining decision—leaving Real Madrid at just 24 years old to become the face of Saudi Arabian football.

One of the major talking points is the financial package that would accompany Vinicius’ potential move. Previous reports have suggested that his contract could be worth around €1 billion.

While no concrete figures were finalised in Prague, discussions were centred around the economic structure of the deal. Saudi representatives made it clear that they are ready to finalise an offer that would surpass any existing sports contract.

Highest-paid athlete

If the deal materialises, Vinicius would earn more than the likes of Shohei Ohtani, who signed a €700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Juan Soto, who recently secured a €765 million deal with the New York Mets.

Unlike baseball contracts that span over a decade, the proposed deal for Vinicius would be structured over a much shorter period, making it an even more lucrative agreement.

Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund is determined to elevate its football league by attracting global superstars. If they manage to lure Vinicius, it would mark a historic moment in football, proving that their financial muscle is strong enough to challenge Europe’s elite clubs.
