Saudi Arabia PIF on way to taking complete ownership of Newcastle United as Amanda Staveley goes | OneFootball

The news that Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi are reported to be leaving and selling their 6% minority shareholding in Newcastle United, hardly came as much of a shock to me.

Hence, I was surprised to see some of the reaction from various media outlets.

I now expect the Saudi Arabia PIF to take their majority shareholding up to 86%, on their way to gaining complete control of Newcastle United.

Before I move on, I would just like to thank Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi for their sterling efforts and dogged determination, in finally wrestling our beloved club from the wretched clutches of our former owner.

The Euro Final is now nearly upon us and Ingurrlund have made it to Sunday’s end game. Substitute Ollie Watkins’ winner in the semi-final against the Netherlands was an exceptional finish, worthy of winning any match.

I sincerely hope all of the flag wavers out in Germany and back here in Blighty have a memorable Sunday evening. It is refreshing to hear that there hasn’t been any real bother between rival fans during the current tournament.

However, there is only one team in my life and come Monday morning I expect things to start kicking on at St James’ Park.

The appointment of Paul Mitchell as Sporting Director was something that I hadn’t been expecting. This man has been well coveted and seems respected and highly regarded by his peers in the game.

It has already been reported that Mitchell will have a more hands-on role in the running of the club than Dan Ashworth appeared to have. He’ll also be working a lot more closely with Eddie Howe.

The mischief makers, especially amongst the Liverpool press and social media, are not going to be going away anytime soon. That’s why it is imperative that we get to sit down with Anthony Gordon asap, tell him exactly how things stand and where he fits in at Newcastle moving forward.

I want us to sign a right-sided central defender and a centre-forward as our two priority signings in this window. I believe that these will already have been identified and I’ll back Eddie’s judgement on whoever they are.

I still think that there will be a forthcoming announcement on either the redevelopment of St James’ Park, or a possible relocation approximately 500 yards north-west into Castle Leazes.

I know which option I’d prefer and I also firmly believe that the Saudi Arabia PIF majority owners want the same. A new state-of-the-art super stadia would be the ultimate statement of intent, as we continue to grow our club commercially in the aim of becoming a global brand.

We are only 33 months down the line since our club was thrown a lifeline by the Saudi Arabia PIF led takeover..

We have since been given a taste for, and an insight into how a successful Newcastle United may actually look in the not too distant future.

Newcastle United is already unrecognisable from the abhorrent shambles it had become only three short years ago.
