São Paulo announced on Friday night (22) the contract renewal of 23-year-old defensive midfielder Pablo Maia until December 31, 2029 – the previous contract was set to expire on December 31, 2027.
“I'm very happy to renew with São Paulo, a club that is my home and formed me as an athlete and as a person. It's a very happy moment for me and my whole family”, celebrated the young number 29.
“It's a renewal that brings us great joy. Pablo has the warrior spirit that this jersey represents, it's a satisfaction to have him with us for longer. He's a boy who deserves very good things in life”, said president Julio Casares.
“Pablo, in addition to being an exemplary professional, is a great player. We're very happy, we're sure he'll be a key player in this and future seasons”, added football director Carlos Belmonte.
Born in Brazópolis-MG, Pablo arrived at the CFA in Cotia in 2017, at the age of 15. His first appearance in the main team was in 2021, when Hernán Crespo called him up for the game against Mirassol, in the Paulista Championship which Tricolor would win.
Promoted permanently in 2022, after the participation of the under-20 team in the Copinha, Pablo had important appearances in the conquests of the 2023 Brazil Cup and the 2024 Supercopa Rei.
In total, he has played 165 games with the São Paulo jersey, scoring eight goals and providing four assists. In April 2024, Pablo served the Brazilian National Team for the first time, in friendlies against England – he came on in the second half – and Spain.
