Sampdoria eliminate Genoa in Coppa Italia, face Roma next | OneFootball

Sampdoria celebrated last night’s derby win over Genoa in the Coppa Italia on penalties.

The Blucerchiati were in fact able to secure a precious and unexpected victory in the Derby della Lanterna and eliminate their city rivals.

Following a tense match which ended 1-1 in regulation time, Samp and Genoa traded blows to make it 2-2 and head into penalties.

With a final score of 6-7 in their favor, Sampdoria were able to advance.

Up next, Sampdoria will face Ivan Juric’s Roma in the Coppa Italia Round of 16.
