Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed he hopes to remain at Manchester United even following the imminent arrival of Ruben Amorim as manager.
The legendary former striker paused his own managerial career to join as an assistant to Erik ten Hag during the summer and is now in temporary charge after his countryman was sacked earlier this week.
Van Nistelrooy is expected to remain in charge until the November international break, at which point Amorim is set to take control and bring along three of his assistants from Sporting CP.
Nevertheless, Van Nistelrooy is hopeful that the new manager will still find a place for him in his new-look United setup.
"I came here as an assistant to help the club. Now in this role, I'm helping as long as needed," Van Nistelrooy vowed. "In the future in any capacity, I'm here to help the club further to build towards the future. That's what I'm here for."
He continued: "I'm here to help and serve and give my everything for the club in any capacity with so many people here around me that want the best for the club and that will never change."
Van Nistelrooy made his name as part of the coaching staff at PSV Eindhoven's academy, beginning as a specialised attacking coach before transitioning into management, working his way up through the age groups before taking over the senior side in July 2022.
He won the Dutch Cup and Super Cup during his one season in charge, before taking his talents back to Manchester to join Ten Hag's staff.
