Ruben Amorim sets fresh challenge to Alejandro Garnacho over Man Utd future | OneFootball

Ruben Amorim has admitted he wants to see improvements from Alejandro Garnacho if the Argentina international wants to force his way back into Manchester United's starting lineup.

Garnacho was dropped from the matchday squad for the Manchester derby alongside Marcus Rashford last month, but responded well to the issue behind the scenes and has come off the bench in each of United's last four Premier League games.

The uncertainty surrounding his future has sparked interest from elsewhere, with Napoli thought to be keen on Garnacho as they seek to replace PSG-bound Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

While Amorim did not hide his admiration for Garnacho's ability, he suggested the young winger needs to adjust to the demands of the new tactical setup being used at Old Trafford.

"He has talent," Amorim said. "He needs to learn to play in a different position. He needs to play better inside.

"He improves a lot in the recovering position when he doesn't have the ball. But doing that, sometimes he's not in the right place to make transitions like he was in the past. I prefer to defend and then build up with all the team to reach the final third.

"He's finding the best way to play in this system. He's improving during training. He started the last game. Let's see tomorrow. I think he changed the way he sees himself."

Reports suggest United would only entertain offers of around £70m to part ways with Garnacho, whose contract runs until 2028.
