Ronaldo strike downs Germany and leads Portugal to UNL final | OneFootball

Portugal secured their spot in the 2024/25 Nations League final with a 2-1 comeback victory against Germany in Munich.

Germany had the first sight at goal when Leon Goretzka drilled low at goal from close range, but Diogo Costa was alert to hold the attempt.

Costa continued to frustrate Die Nationalelf, denying Nick Woltemade's curling strike and keeping out Goretzka's whipped effort from the edge of the area.

Germany made a perfect start to the second half as Florian Wirtz's guided header from Joshua Kimmich's dinked cross found the bottom corner.

Portugal responded quickly and Portugal substitute Francisco Conceição made an instant impact, racing towards goal and thumping an unstoppable strike past ter Stegen.

The Seleção added a quick second five minutes later when Cristiano Ronaldo raced into the six-yard box to tap in from Nuno Mendes' low cross.

Karim Adeyemi was inches away from levelling for Germany in the closing stages with a fierce strike that cannoned off the post.

Germany couldn't hit back and suffered their first defeat since July 2024, while Ronaldo and Conceição's late heroics led Portugal to their first tournament final since the 2019 Nations League.
