Alejandro Garnacho will be on the move from Manchester United this summer. Where he ends up, however, is the question on fans’ lips.

The livewire winger, barring any drastic change in circumstances, has played his final game for United, which came in the form of an off-the-bench cameo in the closing stages of last month’s Europa League final.

After the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Garnacho brazenly labelled United’s season as ‘sh*t’ and rued Ruben Amorim’s decision to omit him from the starting XI for the must-win fixture. He culminated the post-match chat by hinting at an Old Trafford exit, saying: “I’ll try to enjoy my summer and then we will see.”

What next for Alejandro Garnacho?

Four days later, Garnacho was dropped from the matchday squad on the final day of the Premier League campaign when the Reds hosted Aston Villa. It was later revealed that, in a training session leading up to the clash, Amorim had told the youngster to ‘pray’ he could find another club this summer, setting in stone that he’d play no part in the new boss’ plans.

Numerous outlets have since confirmed it’s been mutually agreed by all parties that Garnacho should embark on a new venture in 2025/2026 — and he isn’t short of suitors, either.

In the event the 20-year-old wanted to ply his trade in a new league for the first time, he has garnered interest from Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen, the latter of which would see him reunite with ex-United boss Erik ten Hag.

Garnacho keen to stay in England despite attracting interest across Europe’s top leagues

Yet, Fabrizio Romano issued an update on Sunday, stating that Garnacho is adamant about continuing in the Premier League.

“Alejandro Garnacho’s priority is to stay in the Premier League, while he’s set to leave Man United this summer,” said the transfer reporter.

“Despite Bayer Leverkusen’s interest and Ten Hag’s appreciation, the deal looks complicated and the Premier League is the player’s first choice.”

The eight-capped Argentine international had previously been a target for Chelsea in the winter, so much so that they believed they’d laid the groundwork for a future deal when the window closed, having held talks with his representatives.

Whilst the Blues do retain their interest in Garnacho, they are prioritising the arrival of Borussia Dortmund starlet Jamie Gittens, meaning their pursuit of the wantaway Red has been put on the back burner for now.

In his five years at United, Garnacho has accumulated 144 appearances, scoring 26 goals and assisting 22.
