Roma: Juric already under scrutiny as De Rossi’s return can’t be ruled out

Ivan Juric has only managed Roma for four games, but he’s already ‘under scrutiny’ as the club owners would be open to considering different scenarios in case of another slip-up at Monza, including the return of Daniele De Rossi.

Juric has won two consecutive Serie A matches since taking over De Rossi, also getting a draw and a loss in two Europa League games, with the latter coming mid-week against Swedish side Elfsborg on a night marked by a sluggish performance from the Giallorossi.

The first defeat of Juric’s brief stint was enough to cast doubts on his future at the Stadio Olimpico, as the positive effects on the team seen shortly after his arrival seem already vanished.

Roma don’t rule out De Rossi’s return as Juric is under scrutiny

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma manager Juric is already ‘under scrutiny’ and their upcoming Serie A match at Monza, on Sunday, will be an ‘important crossroads’ that could determine the ownership’s next moves.

The club is reportedly unhappy with the team’s performances against Venezia and Elfsborg, which canceled out the promising signs shown against Udinese, on Juric’s debut match, and in the first half against Athletic Bilbao.

If displays and results don’t improve, Roma ownership could start exploring alternative options and ‘nothing could be ruled out’, even the return of Daniele De Rossi, who was surprisingly fired after four Serie A games despite having extended his contract at the end of last season.

The sacking of De Rossi, who is a Roma legend having played 18 seasons in the Giallorossi shirt, made things even more complicated for Juric, who was forced to work in a hostile environment during his first weeks with the fans repeatedly protesting against the club over the treatment of the former midfielder.
