Roma investigate potential privacy and security breach

Roma are reportedly concerned about the status of their security system.

“I met with Roma’s head of security… he asked me to do some cleanups at Trigoria and the club’s offices.” Thus, on April 26, 2023, a phone call revealed the contact between the Giallorossi club and Equalize, a private investigation company now under investigation in Milan for trafficking in confidential information.

The request, which envisaged a “three thousand euro” job, was an attempt by the company to establish relations with the American ownership of the Friedkins, in the hope of “entering the environment.”

It is Carmine Gallo, a former agent now under house arrest as part of the Milan investigation, who tells of the situation at Trigoria, completely unrelated to the investigation.

The club feared it had been spied on and requested new security checks both at the sports center, where the first team trains, and in the Roman offices on Via Tolstoj.

In those days, after the 4-1 victory against Feyenoord, the Friedkins – Dan and Ryan – worried about the safety of the club, had entrusted an external company with the task of cleaning up the premises.

But the operation raised new doubts: Gallo reports that the same company in charge of the cleaning had placed bugs to “justify its presence” and make further interventions necessary.

The context is that of a phase of transformation within Roma, writes La Repubblica, marked by the entry of the Greek executive Lina Souloukou as CEO and General Manager, who took office on April 18, 2023.

In this period of reorganization, the Friedkins decided to turn to Gallo to verify the effectiveness of the cleaning.

However, Ruocco, the executive who contacted Gallo, left his position in the following weeks, replaced on May 14 by Carlo Turchi Feliziani, already responsible for the club’s safety in the past. The question remains whether the changeover was in any way influenced by the safety problems encountered.
