Roma have stepped forward to make an inquiry for former Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta.
The Friedkin ownership are not entirely satisfied with Florent Ghisolfi’s work.
The French executive has been put under strict observation until the end of the season when the roads between him and the club could go separate ways.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Friedkins have taken an interest in Berta as Ghisolfi’s potential replacement.
Berta recently departed Atletico after 12 years.
The 53-year-old meets all the required criteria: Italian, with international experience, focused on young players and capable of synthesizing the words sustainability and victories.
He brought talents like Gimenez, Oblak, Suarez, Morata and João Félix to Madrid, building a squad capable of winning the Liga twice, a Europa League and reaching two Champions League finals in 2014 and 2016.
He bought well, but sold even better. Record sales like Griezmann, Lucas Hernandez, Rodri and Falcao. In short, Andrea Berta is the prototype of the “tough” profile so sought after by the Friedkins.
Today the Italian is considered among the best sporting directors in the world.
The Premier League market has a greater appeal. Arsenal are looking for a replacement for Edu, who went to Nottingham Forest and Tottenham will make a revolution at the end of the year. However, the Friedkins remain attractive, being able to play a double card: Roma and Everton.
