Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes is refusing to play for the club again this season.
According to Marca, the player is at home and does not want to feature for Los Blancos until he can leave the club in the summer transfer window.
The report claims that Rodrygo already felt sidelined following the arrival of Jude Bellingham. The addition of Kylian Mbappe last summer did not help.
This situation has fractured Rodrygo’s relationship with partner-in-crime Vinicius Junior and the rest of his teammates.
He has underwhelmed this season, recording six goals and six assists in 30 La Liga appearances. Unsurprisingly, he has been criticised for his performances.
Rodrygo was already considering leaving Real Madrid this summer after six successful seasons.
The Brazilian international reportedly refused to play in the 4-3 El Clasico loss to Barcelona on Sunday afternoon due to doubts over his future.
It seems he has now made his decision and is ready to force a move away from the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich could battle to sign him.
The Saudi Pro League is also an option. He would be another marquee signing that elevates the profile of the league.
But talent means nothing without professionalism. Rodrygo has been nurtured, protected, and elevated by Madrid since he was a teenager. His decision to down tools reeks of entitlement.
Refusing to play a pivotal El Clasico and subsequent games is a betrayal of teammates, fans and a club that has put him on the biggest stages.
Plenty of greats have left the Santiago Bernabeu with dignity. Rodrygo is choosing petulance over professionalism, sulking instead of stepping up.
