After boss Pep Guardiola signed a new two-year deal with the club during the week, superstar midfielder Rodri was presented with his Ballon d'Or trophy in a spectacular display on the Etihad pitch before the game kicked off.

Yet while the supporters in the stadium will undoubtedly have enjoyed the glitzy presentation, how they will have wished that the Spaniard was on the pitch for them today.
