Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that Adrien Rabiot (29) will be selected as part of the squad that will travel to face RC Strasbourg Alsace on Sunday evening.
There had been reports that the midfielder who only joined the club 10 days ago could be part of the squad after suspected injuries to Valentin Rongier (29) and Bamo Meïté (22) have left the squad far thinner than the club would have hoped.
The initial plan for Rabiot was to allow the midfielder to acclimatise to his new surroundings after he left Juventus at the start of July as a free agent. The France international had attempted to keep fit but by his own admission was not at the required level he wanted to be after missing both a preseason and the start of the new campaign.
However, De Zerbi in his press conference today declared that the midfielder who took part in his first team training sessions this week will be part of the squad, “Rabiot is on the list of players called up for the trip to Strasbourg, but he’ll start on the bench.”
