Turkish club Rizespor targets Montpellier’s Malian defender to reinforce their backline.
Modibo Sagnan
Montpellier could lose one of its most reliable assets. Modibo Sagnan has caught the eye of Rizespor. The Turkish club reportedly submitted an initial offer to the Malian international this week.
Since MHSC’s relegation to Ligue 2, the Montpellier squad finds itself in a precarious situation. The Hérault club’s management is forced to overhaul the roster after a disastrous season that ended with a drop to the second division. Unsurprisingly, this makes it even harder to keep quality players on board.
Modibo Sagnan’s profile is naturally attracting interest. After a consistent 2024/25 campaign (27 matches, 2 goals in Ligue 1), he’s made his mark both defensively and offensively. Rizespor, eager to shore up its defensive line, has identified the Malian defender as a priority target for their summer recruitment. The Turkish side is looking to strike a swift deal with Montpellier to finalize the transfer.
