Reports: Milan and Inter partake in key meeting over new stadium in San Siro – the details | OneFootball

Inter and AC Milan have once again put forward the idea of the construction of the new stadium in the San Siro area, it has emerged after a meeting this morning.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport and Calciomercato.com report among others, a delegation from Inter and Milan – represented by the managers and owners of the clubs, Oaktree Capital and Redbird Capital Partners – together with the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala and the superintendent Emanuela Carpani, met the Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli.

Also present at the meeting was the Minister of Sport Andrea Abodi. According to what has emerged, the solution involves the purchase of the area – including the current San Siro stadium – by the clubs. The clubs will soon present the expression of interest, useful for the continuation of the procedure, for the realisation of the project.

It is a project that includes – in addition to a new state of the art stadium in the vicinity – the development of the surrounding areas, including the redevelopment of San Siro according to the guidelines already shared with the superintendent Carpani.

The Council of of Milan announced this in a note, adding that ‘in the meantime, we are waiting for the appraisal from the Revenue Agency to have the necessary framework for an overall assessment’. In other words, they will hire experts to assess how much the package is worth and should be sold to the clubs for.

To give further context, Milan and Inter said no to the idea of renovating San Siro that Webuild put forward, while Calcio e Finanza reported over the weekend that the Rossoneri ownership have still got a new stadium in San Donato as their priority, while exploring safety net ideas.
