Chelsea want to sign a striker this summer but will have to sell players to fund a move in order to comply with PSR rules according to reports.

The Blues had a quiet January window much to the disappointment of supporters, although they did complete deals last week for Sporting Lisbon duo Geovany Quenda, who will join in 2026 and Dario Essugo who will arrive this summer.

Chelsea face arguably their most important window under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership with a number of key positions needing to be strengthened.

Chelsea must sell to fund move for a striker

The Blues need to sign a striker and a centre back, whilst it’s believed Enzo Maresca also wants to sign a right footed attacker.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Liam Delap and are said to be leading the race for the Ipswich man.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is another name of interest, although the Blues are likely to face competition from Arsenal for the 21-year-old.

Chelsea are in desperate need of an alternative to Nicolas Jackson, with teenager Marc Guiu still very raw and inexperienced.

A striker is the most important position to sort out this summer and Mail Sport have reported Chelsea need to sell players first in order to fund a move for a number nine so they comply with PSR rules.

The report adds the Blues have already begun working on potential player exits and have as many as 11 players they could sell.

Mail Sport have put together a starting line-up of players Chelsea could sell, which includes Ben Chilwell, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Joao Felix, David Datro Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga and Raheem Sterling.

One thing the Blues have always been very good at is selling players and they will once again have to lean on that with another busy summer seemingly ahead.
