Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries is on the cusp of signing a new long-term contract at Giuseppe Meazza.

According to FCInterNews, Dumfries’ entourage, Yalcin Sarica, will arrive in town this week to finalize the agreement.

Dumfries’ renewal has been among the major talking points since the beginning of the summer.

Though he wasn’t a regular start last season, Inter went to great lengths to convince him to sign a new deal in the summer.

However, perhaps concerned about a lack of first-team opportunities, the Dutchman hesitated to ink the contract.

Moreover, Manchester United’s alleged interest threw a spanner in the works.

Former United boss Erik ten Hag reportedly wanted to lure his compatriot to Old Trafford.

But Dumfries has stayed put. His decision has been on point, with Simone Inzaghi handing him a more prominent role this term.

Indeed, the 28-year-old has made 15 appearances across all competitions in 2024/25.

More importantly, he has leapfrogged Matteo Darmian in the pecking order, establishing himself as a first-choice right wingback.

Denzel Dumfries One Step Away from Signing New Inter Milan Contract

Dumfries penned a four-year deal upon his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2021.

However, he earns ‘only’ €2.5 million per season.

On the other hand, the impending new contract would significantly bolster his wages.

Indeed, Inter will increase his salary to €4m net per year, plus add-ons.

Seemingly content with the club’s proposal, Dumfries is ready to pledge his future to Giuseppe Meazza until 2028.

Sarica’s arrival later this week will mark the final step in the agreement.

Meanwhile, Dumfries must remain focused after helping Inter beat RB Leipzig 1-0 in last night’s UEFA Champions League clash.

Inzaghi’s side cannot afford distractions amid a fierce battle to defend the Scudetto.

Inter will take on Fiorentina in a Serie A top-four six-pointer next Sunday.
