Liverpool are reportedly in "regular contact" with Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong as the club consider life after Trent Alexander-Arnold.
There is no decision one way or another regarding Alexander-Arnold, but the England international is yet to reach an agreement over a new contract and is firmly a summer target for Real Madrid if his current deal expires and he becomes a free agent.
Even if the ideal is to keep the homegrown star, it would be remiss of Liverpool not to at least explore other eventualities and Frimpong appears to be one of the players they could pursue.
Sky Sport Switzerland writes that Frimpong is interested in joining the Reds, having already "given his approval" to a possible transfer. There is no formal offer at this time, although Liverpool and Leverkusen are said to have good relations that could facilitate talks between them.
An issue for Liverpool, however, may be the steep valuation of Frimpong. Leverkusen could demand around €60m (£49.75m).

Frimpong will celebrate his 24th birthday next week. He has primarily thrived with Leverkusen as a wing-back, showcasing his attacking ability, finishing last season with 26 goals and assists across all competitions. It's currently nine so far in 2024/25.
The player's success in Germany was preceded by a two-year spell at Celtic, joining the Scottish giants out of Manchester City's academy at the age of 18. Although born in Amsterdam, Frimpong had been with City for the best part of a decade, signed up when he was just nine years old.
Having lived in England from the age of seven, Frimpong was actually eligible to represent his adopted country at international level, as well as Ghana through his family. But he only ever turned out for the Netherlands at junior international level and made his senior debut in 2023.
