Even though the summer transfer window is still some way away, speculations about FC Barcelona’s plans to reinforce their squad for the next season are already doing the rounds.

It appears that a new left-winger will be at the top of the agenda for the Blaugrana in the summer market, with the club having failed to reinforce the position in the last two windows despite making efforts to bring in Nico Williams (summer) and Marcus Rashford (winter).

The names of Luis Diaz and Rafael Leao have been touted as potential candidates for Barcelona for the summer.

Now, a fresh update from Cadena SER confirms that Luis Diaz is indeed one of the preferred options for Barcelona to strengthen the left flank.

Furthermore, the report adds that one of the Colombian international’s dreams is to play for the Blaugrana, which could help the club in advancing the operation.

Diaz, 28, has been with Liverpool since January 2022 but has been on Barça’s radars for a long time now. And it appears that he harbours a desire to represent the Catalan giants – something that is well-known at Anfield.

Diaz has scored 13 goals so far this season from 35 appearances while also registering three assists, and is seen as an important player by Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

The winger’s contract runs until 2027 and the fact that he is on modest wages at Liverpool makes him a viable option for Barcelona.

Any move would likely depend on the Blaugrana’s financial situation in the summer and whether they can afford the winger’s transfer fee, considering that Liverpool will not let him leave on the cheap.
