Liverpool fans will be intrigued by one name in particular among Wolves’ starting line-up against the Reds this evening.
For much of 2023, it seemed quite possible that a certain Andre Trindade would by now be involved in a match involving LFC, having been linked with the Merseyside giants for a long time when he was at Fluminense.
However, a move to the Premier League instead took him to Molineux, where today he comes up against the six-time champions of Europe.
Reacting to the Wolves team news for the Liverpool Echo, Ian Doyle wrote: “Andre Trindade. Remember him? Liverpool were interested in signing the Brazil international from Fluminense last summer but the club weren’t willing to sell.
“The Reds then moved on and bought Endo and Gravenberch, which didn’t work out too badly for them, and Andre will come up against Liverpool as a Wolves player.”
It had seemed for a long time that Andre would end up at Liverpool, but a move to Anfield never came to fruition, and that left the door open for Wolves to be the club to bring him to England instead.
Far from having any regrets about not snapping up the midfielder, though, the Reds have seen Ryan Gravenberch excel in the number 6 role in recent weeks, with the Dutchman being given a new lease of life by his compatriot Arne Slot.
His Brazilian counterpart is today making his third start for the Old Gold since joining them a month ago, and LFC fans might be keeping a close eye on how he performs against us this evening.
Let’s hope that Liverpool can curb his influence in this fixture and that the 23-year-old won’t do anything to haunt us here!
