AC Milan were linked with a move for Samuel Omorodion during the summer, and now he is starring for Porto some background has emerged on why he went there over Italy.

It was reported in June that Milan were interested in the Spaniard as a potential alternative to Joshua Zirkzee after that deal hit complications. Chelsea also entered the frame for Omorodion after an impressive loan stint at Alaves, and yet he ended up joining neither.

According to what is being reported by Relevo (via Calciomercato.com), it was towards the end of August that Milan had made an enquiry for Samuel Omorodion Aghehowa, but they learned that there was already an agreement in place with Porto.

He has scored seven goals in his first six appearances across all competitions for them after Porto paid €15m for 50% of his rights, and there were no margins for Milan to try and hijack the negotiations because of how advanced they were.

Thus, Milan definitively veered back towards their first choice, Tammy Abraham from Roma. They were able to sign the Englishman but only on a dry loan because of a lack of time to negotiate permanent deals, given Alexis Saelemaekers was also involved.
