Chelsea captain Reece James has last night released a statement on his latest new injury setback, and it now seems worse than it was first expected to be.
Enzo Maresca spoke about it earlier yesterday in his latest press conference ahead of the Leicester City match on Saturday, confirming James will be out for the game.
Listening to the press conference at the time, Maresca said on James:
“We have just one injured player, that is Reece. He felt something and we don’t want to take any risks for the weekend. He is the only one that is not available for this weekend.
“The rest, some of them are better, some of them are still a doubt and we need to wait. Today is the first session we do with all the players [returning] from international. So we will see after today’s session.
“Hamstring. It’s a muscular problem. We don’t want to take any risks for this weekend and hopefully it’s not something long.
“He felt something. He has to be out, for sure this weekend and then we’ll see. At the moment we don’t know how long. Then we’ll see.”
As you can see above, James has now posted his statement on the new injury.
Although he does not confirm how long he will be out or how bad it will be, the fact it seems that he is now signing off for the festive period makes me believe that we will not see him again until after Christmas. I wouldn’t expect him to even be back in training now until January and then a return to the pitch in that month if we are lucky.
What a shame, and perhaps there are some more serious conversations now needed about this super injury prone player.
