Chelsea are looking into the signing of Murillo from Nottingham Forest, potentially extinguishing the Reds' interest.

There has been significant movement on a deal for Chelsea academy star Ryan McAidoo, while there has also been a boost in the chase for Teun Koopmeiners.

More news on potential outgoings meanwhile with Kostas Tsimikas lined up for the exit door.

Here's our Liverpool FC transfer news recap for Saturday.

Reds frontrunners for Brazil star

Liverpool have been named as frontrunners for the signing of Brazil goalkeeper Bento after Inter Milan opted against paying Athletico Paranaense’s €15 million asking price.

Inter have instead invested those funds into the signing of Genoa’s Spanish goalkeeper Josep Martinez, with the aim of making him their long-term No.1.

That decision leaves Bento on the market with Liverpool, Sporting CP and Benfica named among the sides leading the chase for his signature according to Globo.

Two more unnamed English sides have also been linked with signing the 2021 Copa Sudamericana winner.

Inter’s reluctance to pay Athletico’s demands comes as a blow to the 25-year-old, who had a long-standing wish to make the switch to the Serie A giants.

If no other interested teams match their requirements then Bento will be forced to stay put.

The two-cap Brazil international is understudy to Liverpool first-choice Alisson Becker in the national team setup, playing against England at Wembley and Spain at the Bernabeu in the March friendlies.

Madrid enter Calafiori race

Real Madrid are set to rival Liverpool for yet another player in Riccardo Calafiori. It’s been a recurring theme over the last few years.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Real Madrid are in the mix for Riccardo Calafiori. Bologna's Italian centre-back is generating a lot of hype at the moment, with a move away from the club expected after a stellar season.

And now it's suggested that Real Madrid could make him the latest in a long line of future-proof signings. The outlet mentions two made in recent years: Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga.

Riccardo Calafiori

Los Blancos have thrived on such signings, boosting their squad for the long-term with some of the most talented young players around. Calafiori fits into that bracket, even if at 22, he's marginally older than they've been signing.

Liverpool, who have also been linked with the defender, have another fight on their hands, then. It's the same old story.

Koopmeiners boost

Juventus are expected to finalise the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in a £42 million deal before the weekend is out.

The Brazil international passed his medical checks after the Italian side sent their medical team to assess the 26-year-old, who is currently with the Brazil squad in the United States for the Copa America.

Villa will also get two players in exchange for the ex-Manchester City midfielder - Enzo Barrenechea and young Englishman Samuel Iling-Junior.

Although Liverpool had been a stalking horse in the chase for Douglas Luiz, his move to Turin could actually prove to be a BOOST to the Reds as they chase a midfielder of their own this summer.

Juventus had identified Atalanta’s Europa League winner Teun Koopmeiners as their No.1 midfield target and the Dutch international had previously expressed a preference to remain in Serie A.

However the Old Lady were having trouble meeting Atalanta’s asking price, estimated at €60m+.

Should they fail to offload any more fringe players this summer then it is unlikely they will be able to follow through on their interest.

Liverpool are believed to be strong suitors for Koopmeiners, 26, and their interest predates the appointment of Arne Slot as head coach.

Liverpool to wrap up academy star signing

Liverpool have beaten Arsenal and Manchester City to the signing of 16-year-old Chelsea starlet Ryan McAidoo, according to reports.

There is an added focus on academy recruitment at Anfield this summer with Wolves youngster Alvin Ayman also close to signing for the Reds.

McAidoo, who has only just turned 16, featured at under-18 Premier League level for the Blues last season, playing four times in total.

He has opted to leave Stamford Bridge this summer for pastures new and a few weeks ago Fabrizio Romano claimed it was Arsenal who had made the best offer for the 2008-born youngster.

However it appears as though Liverpool will land a significant transfer blow on the Gunners as well as City by clinching a deal for England under-17 international McAidoo, according to Reds Memorabilia with the news also mooted by The Secret Scout.

Kimmich price set

Bayern Munich have accepted the possibility that they will LOSE Joshua Kimmich this summer and have set a price tag of €30 million to €40m.

That’s according to a new report in Mundo Deportivo, which claims that Barcelona are now OUT of the running for the Germany international.

Kimmich has a contract until 2025 and is reported to have accepted his fate and that his time in Bavaria is at an end.

Joshua Kimmich Bayern

German sources do NOT expect a new contract to be offered to the versatile defender-cum-midfielder, who earns around €20m annually at Allianz Arena.

With only 12 months on his contract, Bayern would be content to gain a decent fee for Kimmich this summer, a player who joined them back in 2015 from Stuttgart when Pep Guardiola was still in charge.

Liverpool and Pep’s Manchester City are two of the FIVE teams Kimmich would consider a move to. Barca had been among that list also but can be almost definitely ruled out.

Arsenal and Real Madrid are the other teams regarded as Kimmich’s preferred destinations.

Chelsea push Reds aside for Murillo

Liverpool are on the brink of missing out on a reported transfer target in Murillo as Chelsea attempt a unique bid for the player.

The Guardian reports that Chelsea are readying a bid for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. The Brazilian has long been linked with a move away from Forest - and the Blues want to get it done.

However, their much-publicised financial woes make this a difficult one to pull off. Chelsea hope to make it happen without spending much money, which is a problem for a player valued at £70m by his club.

Thus the Blues want to include Trevor Chalobah in the deal. That could significantly bring down the overall outlay - providing Chalobah wants to move to Forest.

Liverpool have been linked with Murillo, too, though not for a little while. The Daily Mail wrote back in March that he was on the Reds' shortlist.

Whether the club actually want a new centre-back isn't clear, however. Joel Matip leaving this summer certainly creates a gap in the squad, meaning someone new could arrive.

But it's very possible that Liverpool feel Jarell Quansah has already filled the squad. Filled it adequately enough to avoid dropping £70m on a new defender, anyway.

There have been links with Leny Yoro but the sense is that he's a truly unique, outstanding talent. Liverpool certainly have space and money for a player like that - but anything less, we're not sure the club will justify.

Murillo, then, feels more likely to be wearing blue next season than running out in a Liverpool shirt.

Tsimikas tracked by 'several clubs'

Clubs are waiting in the wings for a Liverpool player who knows he won’t be in Arne Slot’s first-XI next season. Kostas Tsimikas has a decision to make.

The Daily Mail reports that several clubs are keeping tabs on Kostas Tsimikas this summer. The Greek left-back has been at Liverpool since 2020 but hasn't pushed his way in front of Andy Robertson.

And so the report claims that while Liverpool certainly won't push Tsimikas out of the door, they're open to offers. The 'right' offers, anyway - it would need to be a fee with at least some temptation behind it.

Tsimikas, though, has the power to reject any offer that comes his way and if he wants to stay, he can. But he'd do so knowing full well that he won't be in Arne Slot's first-choice XI next season.

Robertson will certainly start in that role, with interest from Bayern Munich having died down. The Scot has a good few years left at the top level, leaving Tsimikas mostly on the sidelines.
