Real Madrid ensured the trip to Valladolid was a successful one as Los Blancos scripted a comfortable victory against the home side.
Raul Asencio started as right back instead of Lucas Vazquez, while Aurelien Tchouaméni shifted to partner Antonio Rüdiger. This allowed Carlo Ancelotti to accommodate Dani Ceballos and reward him with yet another start.
Selim Amallah’s header forced Thibaut Courtois into action in the first two minutes from an indirect free-kick.
The Belgian was really involved in the match – which was not the case in the past few games. He had to make a rather awkward save after Mamadou Sylla struck it from distance.
Los Blancos’ relentlessness finally paid its dividends after a brilliant passage of play – including a one two between Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham – resulted in the Frenchman putting the ball into the back of the net to give Real Madrid the lead.
Yet again, the opening half was not the best night to be a Merengue player since the side relied on the individual brilliance of some players to open the scoring.
Dani Ceballos kickstarted another play wherein the Spaniard passed the ball up front to Rodrygo who then found Mbappe unmarked which led to the Frenchman scoring a brace for his side.
David Alaba yet again made an appearance off the bench in the 68th minute and replaced Raul Asencio.
The game seemed to be done and dusted after Valladolid were unable to create any major chance in the second half. They had an overall xG of 0.19 throughout the match and struck just 6 at the net – just a couple of them being actually threatening.
The cherry on the cake was served in the final few minutes of the game when Jude earned a penalty which helped Kylian score his first hattrick for Real Madrid this season. 15th goal in the league.
Post match, Kylian commented that he would also help Vinicius and Rodrygo with the goals, not caring about being the top scorer in La Liga.
The French forward finally looks to be in top form and with crucial Champions League playoffs and knockout rounds coming up, Carlo Ancelotti could not have been more delighted.
On the other hand, Raul Asencio did not seem to mind playing as right back, with the Spaniard saying that he plays wherever Ancelotti tells him to and will also give his 100%.
With this victory, Real Madrid strengthen their position, now having a 4 and 7 point lead over Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona respectively.
Next up, the Merengues travel away from home to take Brest in the final group stage match of the UEFA Champions League, a win and some other results going their way would mean Real Madrid has a chance of finishing in the top 8. Otherwise, the longer route – the playoffs round.
