After announcing the deal earlier in the summer, Real Madrid have formally presented Dean Huijsen today.
The former Bournemouth defensive prodigy is the club’s first signing of the summer and will wear the number 24 jersey.
Many have already congratulated Huijsen on joining Real Madrid, one of whom is none other than Alvaro Carreras.
The Spanish full-back commented on Huijsen’s announcement post with a simple yet telling message: “Congratulations, my friend! This was accompanied by a white heart emoji.
This is quite significant considering the fact that Carreras has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer.
Alongside Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Carreras was Real Madrid’s third big defensive target for the summer.

Although Real Madrid had initially made solid ground on the pursuit of the Spanish left-back, the move has stalled lately, with the defender now set to play for Benfica in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
However, Real Madrid are still alive in the race to sign Carreras, who might want to push for a return to Santiago Bernabeu after the Club World Cup.
The way Carreras congratulated Huijsen with a white heart symbol may hint at the fact that the defender is still keen on rejoining Real Madrid.
However, it must be noted that Carreras already shares a rich Real Madrid legacy thanks to his time at La Fabrica. And given that both him and Huijsen are a part of Spain’s up and coming pool of defensive talents, there is a good chance the two of them are simply good friends.
Nevertheless, there is no why Real Madrid should give up on the chase and it will be interesting to see how things transpire in the coming weeks, as far as the pursuit of Carreras is concerned.
