Real Madrid youth team player Jeremy de Leon, commonly referred to as the team’s ‘lucky charm’ remains committed to his ambition of succeeding at the club.

The 21-year-old Puerto Rican talent, currently part of the club’s youth setup, has a contract running until 2026 and has no intention of seeking an exit anytime soon.

Despite interest in him during the last winter transfer window, he declined to entertain any offers, and his stance remains unchanged ahead of the summer.

“It’s not something I think about much. Right now, I’m very happy here,” De Leon stated as quoted by MARCA.

“In the end, it’s always been my dream since I was little to be at Madrid. My dream would be to stay here as long as possible.”

Injuries have hampered his progress

The promising winger began the season in impressive form, carrying over his momentum from the previous campaign.

However, his progress was derailed after returning from Real Madrid’s pre-season tour in the United States.

A series of unfortunate injuries saw him sidelined for a total of four and a half months, significantly impacting his playing time.

“The start of the season was a bit complicated because I was injured for several months, but I’m recovered now,” he explained. “I feel healthy and ready for whatever comes next.”

Despite his struggles with injuries, De Leon remains undeterred, fully aware of the immense competition for places within the club.

“At the end of the day, I’m not on just any team. It’s Real Madrid, the best team in the world,” he acknowledged.

Training with the senior team

One of the biggest highlights of his time at the club has been training under Carlo Ancelotti and alongside some of the best players in world football.

Sharing the pitch with stars like Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, Kylian Mbappe, and Jude Bellingham has been an invaluable learning experience for the young winger.

“I’ve learned a lot from them. They’re the best players in the world, so you learn a lot on the pitch and how to behave off it,” De Leon admitted. “I’m very happy to continue learning from them.”

With his injury struggles behind him, the Puerto Rican is now focused on regaining his rhythm and fighting for more playing time.
