Real Madrid youngster suffers ACL injury on US tour, will return to Spain | OneFootball

In a disappointing update, Mario Cortegana confirms that Real Madrid youngster Cesar Palacios has suffered an ACL injury.

The 19-year-old midfield talent, a permanent fixture in the Castilla setup, has travelled to the USA with the senior squad for the pre-season tour.

Rated highly within the club, Palacios got an opportunity in the friendly against AC Milan last night, when he came on at half-time to replace Luka Modric.

However, Palacios had to be replaced in under seven minutes on his debut by Alvaro Rodriguez as he suffered a serious-looking knee injury.

Speaking after the game, manager Carlo Ancelotti said” “Palacios has a knee problem, it doesn’t look good, it’s a shame, it can happen in football. Hopefully, it is nothing serious, we will evaluate it tomorrow.”

Now, it has been confirmed that Palacios’ knee injury is indeed serious, with the midfielder rupturing his ACL.

As such, the report from Cortegana states that the teenage talent will return to Spain tomorrow where he will undergo further tests to determine the extent of injury and whether he needs surgery.

The serious injury to a young talent that too on his first-team debut no less has left the Real Madrid squad sad.
