With Saudi Arabia making overtures to lure Vinicius Jr. from Real Madrid, the club have opened talks over renewing the forward’s contract.
The 24-year-old megastar’s current deal runs until the summer of 2027 and the idea is to extend it by a few more years while also improving his salary.
However, conflicting reports are emerging from media regarding the contract renewal of Vinicius.
Earlier this month, reports suggested the renewal agreement was complete and only the signature was pending over a five-year deal until 2030.
However, as per the latest update from SPORT, Vinicius and Real Madrid are yet to reach an agreement over a new contract.
Vinicius wants to earn as much or more than the highest-paid player in the squad. Currently, his salary is on par with Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, reportedly at €15 million net per season.
However, the Brazilian is aware that the French forward earns more due to a signing bonus included in his contract after arriving as a free agent, which takes his total compensation above €20 million.

Real Madrid have offered Vinicius a five-year contract worth €100 million net through 2030 -equivalent to €20 million per season. This is the maximum amount the club is willing to offer this summer.
This offer would raise the internal wage ceiling by €5 million and could trigger demands from other top-tier players, such as Bellingham, who is only 21, for similar pay.
The report states that negotiations remain open as both parties aim to reach an agreement this summer, though one side must give ground.
Vinicius bases his demands partly on the interest he has received from Saudi Arabia, who are reportedly willing to offer an unmatchable salary. However, Real Madrid are standing by their current proposal.
The club executives are aware that if a renewal is not secured now, they will need to re-enter negotiations next year, with just one year remaining on Vinicius’ contract. So, it remains to be seen if they are willing to reach a compromise on the negotiations.
