After missing out on Martin Zubimendi, Real Madrid are scouring the market for a new midfielder, who can add more depth to the team next season.
The club have been linked with a move for several midfielders in recent weeks, including Chelsea superstar Enzo Fernandez.
However, a recent report from Ben Jacobs has clarified that Real Madrid’s pursuit of Fernandez is not going anywhere.
Jacobs suggests Real Madrid are unlikely to make any bid for the Chelsea superstar, whose market value could price them out of the race.
Jacobs adds that Chelsea, for their part, have no desire to part ways with the Argentine international.

Although Real Madrid are exploring the idea of signing a new midfielder, they are unlikely to be able to offer a bid high enough for Chelsea to change their mind.
Having paid €121 million for the services of Fernandez, Chelsea have their set standards as to how much they expect for the midfielder.
As per Jacobs, Chelsea would only be considering an exit for Fernandez if any interested party propose a bid north of €121 million.
That is not something Real Madrid are planning to do right now and therefore, their pursuit of Fernandez might be all but over.
As such, Fernandez is likely to stay at Chelsea this summer. As for Real Madrid, the club are expected to shift their attention to other alternatives.
However, for the time being, Real Madrid are expected to focus on defensive reinforcements, with the club working on a deal to bring in Benfica fullback Alvaro Carreras.
