Real Madrid star Federico Valverde has on Tuesday thrown his backing behind teammate Arda Güler.

Youngster Güler has of course endured something of a hit-and-miss campaign to date in Spain’s capital.

Though he has seen an uptick in game-time compared to his debut term in La Liga, the 19-year-old remains some way down the pecking order in Carlo Ancelotti’s attacking ranks.

All told, Güler has racked up 27 appearances across all competitions, notching a respectable three goals and five assists along the way.

Calls have long mounted across the Real Madrid fanbase for the Turkish international to be afforded a more consistent chance to impress in the club’s colours, with many of the opinion that Güler is ready to explode onto the world stage.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Los Blancos’ upcoming Champions League meeting with Manchester City, the name of his young teammate was therefore put to the aforementioned Federico Valverde.

And the Uruguayan, in his response, revealed his confidence that Güler will ultimately go on to succeed at the Santiago Bernabéu:

“Arda Güler has a lot of potential and a future here at Real Madrid. He has everything to be an idol.”
