Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham on Thursday night held up his hands in apology, on the back of England’s shock defeat at the hands of Greece.

The Three Lions marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Greece to Wembley boasting heavy favourite status.

In turn, it came as nothing short of a shock when, upon the full-time whistle sounding in London, it was the visitors who emerged on the right side of the result.

Owing to a brace on the part of Vangelis Pavlidis, Greece downed Lee Carsley’s men by two goals to one.

One of few English players who could hold his head high on the back of proceedings coming to a close this evening was the aforementioned Jude Bellingham.

Fielded in a new more advanced role, the Real Madrid standout held his own, bringing the Three Lions level with an equaliser three minutes from time.

As alluded to above, though, Bellingham nevertheless felt it only right to make clear his disappointment with the eventual result.

As he made his way off the pitch at Wembley, the 21-year-old turned to the home crowd, holding his hands up, in a gesture of apology:
