With Real Madrid facing a major injury crisis in their defensive unit, it has been decided that new signings will be made to reinforce the area in the January transfer window.
A new centre-back and a right-back are being sought by Los Blancos, after losing frontline defenders Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal both to ACL injuries.
As far as the centre-back position is concerned, the La Liga champions have identified players like Aymeric Laporte and Castello Lukeba as potential targets.
However, neither signing will be straightforward with Al Nassr unwilling to lower their €15-20 million asking price for Laporte while Lukeba will command a much bigger fee.

Given the situation, SPORT reports that Real Madrid have identified Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera as a possible alternative to strengthen the heart of the backline in the January window.
As per the report, the 20-year-old was on the Merengues’ radars last summer as well but nothing really came of it. However, it seems like they have decided to reactivate the interest in the centre-back who won the Olympics Gold with Spain this year.
Mosquera has a contract with Valencia that runs until 2026 – with the deal getting renewed in May this year. It saw his release clause go from €25 million to €80 million.
Mosquera though could be available for a lower fee and even though his performances this season have not been at their best, Real Madrid see potential in the 20-year-old and believe he can flourish at the Bernabeu.
It remains to be seen whether this leads to anything or Mosquera becomes another name the rumour mill churned out as Real Madrid scour the market for defensive signings.
