Earlier this week, when Real Madrid faced Real Sociedad away at the Reale Arena in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final, young defender Raul Asencio was targeted with offensive chants by a section of opponent fans.
Indeed, a section of the Real Sociedad supporters were heart shouting ‘D*e Asencio’, prompting the referee to activate the necessary protocols, even temporarily stopping the match.
Now, MARCA reports that the offensive chants and serious insults directed at Asencio have prompted Florentino Perez to step in.
A few days ago, the Real Madrid president held a meeting with the player, during which he assured him to remain calm, reaffirmed his full support, and made it clear that the club would not stand idly by.
Asencio, who has endured very difficult days, appreciated the backing from the president, adding to the continuous support he has received from the coaching staff and his teammates.

Speaking to the media on Friday, the Italian tactician stated that the youngster was distressed by the whole episode but has recovered, saying:
“The player is fine. He has recovered well. He was affected and that’s normal. A few days have passed and he is ready to play. Something that should not have happened has happened. The protocol was applied very well.”
The insults and chants against Asencio are not an isolated case. What happened at the Reale Arena was just another instance in a series of similar events.
Previously, in a match against Osasuna at El Sadar, the player was also targeted by radical sections of the crowd. The abuse escalated from “Asencio, you, s** o* a b***h!” to “Asencio, d*e!”
This recurrence has led the club to take action, including the personal intervention of Perez.
Asencio has made a conscious effort to stay away from these off-field distractions and focus solely on his performance. He has found strong support from Ancelotti and his staff, who have stayed close to him to ensure that these incidents do not affect his outstanding form.
