Real Madrid postpone contract renewal of key star until the end of the season | OneFootball

According to journalist Manu Carreno on El Larguero, Real Madrid and Vinicius Jr. have decided to postpone contract renewal talks until the end of the current season.

For months, there has been strong speculation suggesting that Vinicius and his agents were locked in negotiations with the club to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Reports had claimed that progress was being made and that both sides were moving towards a long-term deal.

However, Carreno has shared new information that paints a different picture.

Carreno explains Real Madrid’s decision

Manu Carreno revealed that “the intention of both the player and his entourage, as well as Real Madrid, is to focus on the season and, in principle, talks will not resume until the end of the campaign.

“The agreement was made to extend until 2030, three more years, with an increase in Vinicius’s salary, close to €25 million net.”

He also made it clear that there has been no breakdown in discussions. Instead, both sides have simply agreed to put the matter on hold while the season plays out.

“The agreement hasn’t been broken, but the season has started, and both parties have decided to postpone those negotiations until the end of the season.

“We’ll see how things develop for Vinicius and for Real Madrid. That’s my information.

“For now, let’s get the ball rolling, and we will see. Vini’s contract enters its final year in the summer. It will be interesting.”

For now, the focus remains on football. With the campaign underway, both Real Madrid and Vinicius want full concentration on achieving success on the pitch before finalising what could be one of the biggest contracts in world football.

The final months of the season will therefore be crucial, not only in terms of results for Real Madrid, but also for the future of one of their brightest stars.
