Real Madrid stepped up after the break to secure a 3-0 La Liga win away at Real Oviedo to make it back-to-back victories so far this season.

Thibaut Courtois – 8

Did not have a lot to do in the first half but made two crucial saves late on, either side of Kylian Mbappe’s second goals, and remains the best in La Liga.

Dani Carvajal – 7.5

A surprise call from Alonso to start his captain over Trent Alexander-Arnold as the first time he’s done so. Looked sharp defensively and adds to the theory right back will be rotated this season.

Antonio Rudiger – 7

.Another slightly unexpected call from Alonso, after Eder Militao started against Osasuna, but his experience remains important.

Dean Huijsen – 7.5

Unmoved as first choice under Alonso and dealt well with the physical threat posed by the Oviedo attack as his La Liga adjustment continues at pace.

Alvaro Carreras – 7

Showed more attacking intent than against Osasuna and linked well with Rodrygo in front of him down Real Madrid’s left.

Aurelien Tchouameni – 7.5

A unsung start to the season at the base of Real Madrid’s midfield and sharp challenge was the trigger for Mbappe’s first half opener.

Fede Valverde – 8

The general in Alonso’s midfield, was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet either side of the break, and showed real willingness to break forward into the Oviedo penalty area.

Arda Guler – 7

Showed some nice touches to link the midfield to attack continues to justify his starting place in the early days under Alonso.

Franco Mastantuono – 7

Thrown in from the start by Alonso, and ran with power out wide and centrally, offers something different in profile to Guler and Brahim Diaz.

Rodrygo Goes – 7.5

Alonso has consistently answered questions over Rodrygo’s future and his decision to start him underlines the manager’s determination to keep him. Two early chances could have ended up in the back of Oviedo’s net and he looks set to stay.

Kylian Mbappe – 9

Real Madrid’s star mane with two brilliantly taken goals in both halves and Mbappe is on fire at the start of the season.
