Real Betis and Dani Ceballos are once again linked in the transfer market.

According to an update shared by AS, the La Liga club has already held discussions with the midfielder’s representatives to explore the idea of bringing him back to Seville.

Interestingly, this is not the first time such talks have happened, but this time, the situation seems a bit more complicated.

This is because inside the Betis boardroom, there is no clear agreement about whether signing Ceballos, who wants to leave Real Madrid, is the right move.

Some believe he would immediately raise the quality of the team and help Betis compete for bigger goals, like qualifying for the Champions League.

Others within the club, however, are less convinced. They worry about the baggage that comes with the deal, both financially and emotionally.

Even Betis fans are split

It is not just the board that is divided, but the Betis fans are too. On social media, plenty of supporters are excited about the idea of welcoming Ceballos back.

They see him as a player who still has plenty to offer and could become the leader of the midfield. But not everyone feels the same.

Some fans still hold a grudge against him for renewing his contract with Real Madrid in 2023, turning down the chance to return to Betis at that time. Others are simply tired of the repeated transfer sagas that seem to surround him every summer.

There have also been whispers suggesting that Betis would only sign Ceballos, who is also wanted by Juventus, if he came on a free transfer and agreed to cut his salary by more than half.

But according to sources close to the negotiations, that is not exactly true.

Betis are reportedly willing to pay between €5 million and €10 million to bring Ceballos back, especially since the club will lose Johnny Cardoso and William Carvalho this summer.

For now, the talks continue, and it remains to be seen whether the prodigal son will finally return home.
