The future of Vinicius Junior has once again become a hot topic in the Real Madrid camp as we head towards the summer transfer window.

Not too long ago, it was believed that the Brazilian international will sign a new contract at Real Madrid in due time – a contract that will feature a salary hike and extend his deal, which currently expires in 2027.

Since then, the two parties have yet to finalise a deal, with Vinicius’ demands still being too far from what Real Madrid are offering.

Vinicius talking to Saudi clubs amid standoff

According to MARCA, Vinicius’s agents have held multiple meetings with officials from the Saudi Pro League this year. The goal is clear: use interest from Saudi Arabia as leverage to pressure Madrid into offering better terms.

The winger reportedly wants €30 million net per season, a figure well above the club’s preferred limit of €20 million.

Madrid view this salary cap as part of their internal structure and have been reluctant to break it – even for a player of Vinicius’s stature.

His current contract, signed in 2022, pays him around €17 million net. It’s a strong deal, but it appears Vinicius is gunning for more lucrative terms. The club, for that matter, are not too keen, especially considering the player’s drop in performances this season.

No offer from Saudi Arabia just yet

The report adds that despite meetings and rumours of a €200 million yearly offer, no official proposal from Saudi Arabia has been made.

The Saudis have shown interest in using Vinicius as a face for the 2034 World Cup, but no concrete steps have been taken.

All this comes at a time when Vinicius’s form has dipped, and his attitude has caused friction inside the dressing room.

With Kylian Mbappe now expected to become the team’s new centrepiece, it will be interesting to see how Real Madrid approach the Vinicius renewal saga.
