The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have made a final decision on the future of veteran defender Lucas Vázquez.
That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who points towards the long-standing relationship between the parties as being set to come to an end this summer.
Right-back Vázquez has for his part endured a difficult season to date, regularly singled out for heavy criticism on the part of the Real Madrid faithful.
As much has culminated in mounting calls for the 33-year-old to be shipped off upon the campign’s close, when his contract terms are set to come to an end.
The impending arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold has made Vázquez somewhat surplus to requirements in the Spanish capital.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday is anything to go by, then those desperate for the versatile defender to be moved on look set to have their prayers answered.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:
‘Lucas Vázquez and Real Madrid are expected to part ways at the end of the season, with Spanish right-back leaving as free agent. The plan is for Lucas to play at FIFA Club World Cup if nothing happens before; and then try new chapter after Trent’s arrival.’
