There has been much talk in the media about Carlo Ancelotti and his future at the club, with Xabi Alonso emerging as one of the top candidates to replace him next summer.
However, Real Madrid’s performances this season have indicated that the club might opt for a managerial season in the middle of the campaign as well, in which case, the club won’t be in a position to approach Alonso.
Keeping that in mind, a recent report from Alfredo Matilla has confirmed that Real Madrid have already identified the ideal person to replace Ancelotti mid-season.
The person in question is none other than Santiago Solari. The Argentine, who returned to the club in 2022 to serve as the football director, has served the role of an interim coach in the past and may do so again, if Ancelotti gets sacked.

Real Madrid have already informed Solari about the role. Although the Argentine isn’t too keen on the job, he understands that this is something he must do, in order to help out the club.
Real Madrid had alerted Solari about the interim position when the club lost 3-1 to AC Milan. The Argentine was even put on standby ahead of the Osasuna clash, but the club ended up securing a comprehensive victory.
Solari was the caretaker manager of Real Madrid in 2018, when the club sacked Julen Lopetegui.
The reason why Solari has been chosen for the job is because the 48-year-old has excellent knowledge about the ins and outs of the team, having previously coached both Real Madrid and RM Castilla.
Solari also has an excellent relationship with some of the pillars of the Real Madrid dressing room – making him the ideal go-to person.
