Real Madrid identify German sensation as Modric replacement, approaching the deal with secrecy | OneFootball

Real Madrid are closely monitoring Florian Wirtz as they view him as the ideal successor to Luka Modric.

According to recent updates from David Alonso via AS, the club is being cautious and secretive in their approach to this potential signing. While it is not an urgent matter, replacing Modric has become a priority for the Spanish giants.

Wirtz, the young star from Bayer Leverkusen, has been on Real Madrid’s radar for quite some time. The club has kept a close eye on him since he captained Germany’s U-17 team and made his Bundesliga debut.

For now, the interest in Wirtz has steadily grown within Real Madrid, as they believe he possesses the qualities to step into Modric’s shoes. With Modric likely entering his final season at the club, Real Madrid are looking to secure a smooth transition for the midfield.

Leverkusen and other competitors

Wirtz is currently under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2027, and the club has made it clear that he will not be sold for less than €150 million.

Fernando Carro, Leverkusen’s general manager has taken a firm stance on this price. Nevertheless, Madrid are aware that as Wirtz’s contract nears its end, they might have a better negotiating position.

Other top clubs, including Manchester City, are also interested in the young German. City view Wirtz as an ideal replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, should he move to Saudi Arabia.

Bayern Munich are also in the race, hoping to pair Wirtz with Musiala, as they aim to unite two of Germany’s top talents.

Real Madrid are prepared for tough competition in securing Wirtz’s signature, but they remain patient, knowing that time could work in their favour.
