Rodrygo Goes finds himself in a difficult position at Real Madrid, having seen his form suffer in recent months and future called into question.

Having once been a permanent fixture in the starting lineup, the Brazilian international has lost his prominence in the team and might end up leaving before the next season starts.

Rodrygo going through worst moment

Rodrygo is going through the most difficult spell of his career at Real Madrid. His form declined sharply at the end of the season, leading to a loss of confidence.

The Brazilian has scored only one goal in his last 23 matches, including a run of 13 straight matches without scoring, marks the worst period of his time at Real Madrid.

From a strong mid-season run, where he scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists in 11 matches between mid-December and late January, Rodrygo has plummeted to his worst numbers as a Real Madrid forward.

With 14 goals and 10 assists in 52 appearances, this is Rodrygo’s weakest season in terms of goal output among those where he played over 50 matches. Last season he scored 17 goals in 51 games, while his most productive campaign was in 2022–23, with 19 goals in 57 matches.

What does the future hold?

Until the game against Al-Hilal at the FIFA Club World Cup earlier this month, Rodrygo had gone without playing for over 50 days, with his latest appearance before that coming in the Copa del Rey final vs Barcelona in April – where he was taken off at half-time.

However, having started that game, he was completely left out against Pachuca, with the likes of Arda Guler, Victor Munoz, and Gonzalo Garcia getting minutes ahead of him.

This comes at the same time as the club’s investment in young Argentine prospect Franco Mastantuono, which has added further uncertainty to his situation.

It remains to be seen how Rodrygo’s situation at Real Madrid evolves in the coming weeks and whether he stays or leaves, especially with Arsenal interested.
