Real Madrid Faces Pay Structure Dilemma Over Vinicius Junior Renewal
Real Madrid're treading carefully as they prepare to renew Vinicius Junior’s contract aiming to avoid potential wage row with incoming superstar Kylian Mbappe & Jude Bellingham.
Vinicius arrived at Madrid as teenager 7 years ago. Despite his promising start, his initial salary was among the lowest in the squad. That changed in 2022 when he signed his 1st big renewal bumping his annual wage to 4.7 million euro, up from just 1.2 million euro under goal based contract.
Since then the Brazilian's become central to Los Blancos recent successes playing major role in their Champions league triumphs in 2022 & 2024.
Vinicius’ current deal signed in 2022, runs until 2027 and is reportedly worth €150 million over five years including gradual salary increases and 2 million euros annual bonus after winning The Best award.
With new contract on the horizon Vinicius wants salary that reflects his importance as reported by AS. However granting him over 15 million euro net per year could disrupt the wage balance making him the club’s highest paid player, even above Mbappe, who's understood to have received massive signing bonus.
